Against The Spread Bettors Could Have Some More Opportunities

NFL

Underdogs were 8-6 against the spread last week and pup bettors could have some more opportunities to cover the number or outright upsets in Week 6. The point spread for 10 of the 14 games on the board this week sit at four or fewer points.

Covid outbreaks have caused a number of major changes to the schedule and that’s why there won’t be a Thursday Night Football game, while a number of teams had their bye weeks adjusted. The New England Patriots were one of those squads and will host the Denver Broncos as 10-point favourites coming off their bye. The Miami Dolphins are the only other double-digit favourite as they are set at -10 against the woeful New York Jets. The Jets are the only team in the league at 0-5 both straight up and against the spread.

There are some line moves to keep an eye on, too. The Indianapolis Colts dipped from -10 at the open to -8 now as they host the 1-3 Cincinnati Bengals, while the Pittsburgh Steelers opened at -5 at home to the Cleveland Browns in an AFC North battle before that line moved to Pittsburgh -3.5.

The Green Bay Packers are one of this week’s most popular bets as they visit Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday afternoon. Almost 90 percent of early wagers are backing the Packers at -2.5 road favourites. The total from this matchup has also jumped from 51.5 all the way up to 54.

Week 6 will feature three primetime games. The Rams visit the 49ers as 3.5 favourites before we’re treated to a pair of Monday Night Football matchups. The Chiefs are at -3.5 as they visit Buffalo in a 5 p.m. ET start before the Cardinals (-2.5) visit the Dallas Cowboys.

MLB

The Tampa Bay Rays could be the first team to book their ticket to the World Series as they hold a 3-0 series lead over the Houston Astros ahead of Wednesday’s Game 4. With that ALDS it’s no surprise that they’re the +110 World Series favourite. Meanwhile in the National League, the Atlanta Braves are up 2-0 on the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Braves are at +170 to advance and win this year’s title, while the Dodgers check in at +325. Tampa Bay is a huge longshot at +3500.
