NFL

Last week Covid-19 forced the league’s hand again, causing a number of schedule changes. Week 13’s schedule has also been adjusted as a result. With the final game of Week 12 between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens going late Wednesday afternoon, the Thursday Night Football matchup between Baltimore and the Dallas Cowboys has been moved to Tuesday night. Pittsburgh’s game against Washington, which was originally set for Sunday, will go Monday evening at 5 p.m. ET.

It’s also worth noting that the San Francisco 49ers will play their Week 13 and Week 14 games at State Farm Stadium in Arizona after Santa Clara banned contact sports to combat Covid-19 spread. The 49ers are currently set as 2.5-point underdogs against the Buffalo Bills in the neutral-site MNF matchup. More than 80 per cent of early bettors like the Bills to cover.

Underdogs were 10-5 against the spread (ATS) in Week 12 before Wednesday’s Steelers-Ravens game and there looks to be lots of options for underdog bettors again. The Week 13 board currently lists five matchups with point spreads of nine or more points.

The largest spread on the board has the Kansas City Chiefs at -14 at home against the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football. The betting public is all over K.C. in that spot too. Actually, none of those big underdogs are seeing the majority of the betting action as of this writing.

Bettors still don’t buy into the Cleveland Browns, despite their 8-3 record. The Browns, who are 6-point underdogs in Tennessee this week, are just 4-7 ATS. About 85 per cent of bets are backing the Titans in that one. Meanwhile, you might have guessed another popular bet – the Las Vegas Raiders as they visit the 0-11 New York Jets. The Raiders are coming in on a two-game losing skid but are seeing better than 90 per cent of point spread bets.

NBA

The start of the National Basketball Association is sneaking up quickly. Opening night is set for Dec. 22 and the Los Angeles Lakers remain +250 favourites to repeat as champs, ahead of the Brooklyn Nets (+500), the Los Angeles Lakers (+600) and the Milwaukee Bucks (+600). The Toronto Raptors, who will play out of Tampa Bay, Florida at least to start this season, are at +1800.
