Today's Live Odds Lines Spreads

NFL

Experienced NFL bettors know that you can never count on a ticket until the final whistle sounds. We saw a good reminder of that in Week 5’s Monday Night Football game that saw the Baltimore Ravens overcome a 19-point deficit in the third quarter to beat the Indianapolis Colts in overtime. Those that had the Ravens on the moneyline cashed in, but Baltimore couldn’t cover the 7.5-point spread. That final scored moved underdogs to 7-6 against the spread (ATS) on the week.

Now moving to Week 6, Tom Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in Philadelphia for a Thursday Night Football date with the Eagles. The Bucs are 4-1 straight up but are 2-3 ATS, failing to cover twice on the road. Oddsmakers have Tampa as a 7-point visiting favourite and nearly 85 per cent of the betting public is backing the Bucs.

On Sunday, the 2-3 Kansas City Chiefs look to get back on track as they head to Washington as another 7-point visiting favourite. So far, the general betting public doesn’t seem to realize that the Chiefs can’t be trusted with these inflated point spreads. Dating back to 2020, Kansas City is on a 2-13-1 ATS slump. Still, more than 90 per cent of early bets are backing the Chiefs to cover again this week.

Any matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers draws a lot of betting attention and this week’s tilt is no different. Green Bay is on the heels of a very sloppy win and Chicago has handed the keys to rookie quarterback Justin Fields. Bettors are on the road team again here with Green Bay sitting as a 4.5-point favourite.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has overtaken Kyler Murray as this year’s MVP favourite at +365 and his Bills are pegged as yet another road favourite as they visit the Tennessee Titans. Bettors can’t get enough of Buffalo -6 here, so keep an eye on this line.

NFL Odds: Dallas Cowboys at New England Patriots

The Dallas Cowboys (4-1 SU, 5-0 ATS) haven’t played this well in a long time. America’s Team is performing at an even higher level than the three-time champions from the early 90s; you have to go back to when Tom Landry was their head coach to find a better club. But it’s a long season, and the Cowboys will have to prove themselves again this Sunday when they visit the New England Patriots (2-3 SU and ATS), kicking off at 4:25 PM ET on CBS.

Bill Belichick and the Patriots have seen better days. New England needed an epic fourth-quarter comeback to beat the lowly Houston Texans 25-22 last week, coughing up the cash as 8-point road favorites. The Pats opened as 1-point home dogs for this week’s contest before slipping to +1.5 at press time, with the total holding steady at 48.

Rookie QB Mac Jones has done well just to survive playing behind a banged-up Patriots offensive line without RB James White (hip, out for season) to help him in the backfield. He’ll have a harder time dealing with the Dallas pass rush, while Cowboys QB Dak Prescott can continue his MVP push against New England’s mediocre defense.

NBA

The NBA regular season tips off with two games on Tuesday, Oct. 19 – the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks host the Brooklyn Nets, while the Golden State Warriors visit the Los Angeles Lakers. These four teams just happen to top the NBA Championship odds board with Brooklyn leading the way at +240, followed by the Lakers at +250, Bucks at +800, and Warriors at +1000. The Nets also own the highest regular season win over/under at 56.5 wins. Oddsmakers are expecting a rebuilding year for the Toronto Raptors. Their win total is set at just 35.5 (over -170), while their title odds are a whopping +4700.
