Even though we’re beginning to sound like a broken record, it’s worth noting that underdogs were the most profitable betting option against the spread (ATS) in the third week of NFL play – again, for the third straight week. This time around, underdogs went 9-6 ATS and were 7-8 straight up (SU). Now as we head into Week 4, underdogs are 30-17 ATS and 21-26 SU.

On Thursday Night Football, Jacksonville rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence steps into the spotlight as his Jaguars visit the Cincinnati Bengals. It’s been a tough start for the rookie and the Jags are set as 7.5-point underdogs with better than 80 per cent of bets backing the home team.

Sunday features some tasty matchups like the Baltimore Ravens visiting the Denver Broncos, the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Carolina Panthers and the Arizona Cardinals at the Los Angeles Rams. The Ravens vs. Broncos is a Pick ‘em and even though Denver is 3-0 SU and ATS, almost 80 per cent of the betting action is on the visiting team. Dallas is a 5.5-point favourite against the unbeaten Panthers and it’s a 50-50 split on betting action. The Rams are at -4.5 in a matchup of two 3-0 teams and this game features this week’s highest total at 55 points. Most bettors like the Rams and the over.

In Sunday Night Football, Tom Brady makes his return to New England and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set as 7-point road favourites. Bettors are firmly in Brady’s corner in this matchup, with nearly 90 per cent of point spread tickets supporting the Buccaneers.

Monday Night Football has the 3-0 Las Vegas Raiders as 3.5-point underdogs when they visit the Los Angeles Chargers. Keep an eye on this line as it’s been moving between -3 and -3.5 since the open. Bettors also like this one to finish with more than 52.5 points.

MLB

Just when Toronto Blue Jays supporters were feeling good about their club’s post-season chances, the Jays hit a major pothole. Now, with only a handful of games left on the schedule, they’re one game back of the last Wild Card spot and two games behind the New York Yankees, who hold the other Wild Card position. To say that Toronto desperately needs to take the next two games against New York would be and understatement. Toronto is set as a +110 underdog tonight before the series concludes on Thursday. Toronto hosts the Baltimore Orioles this weekend.
