NFL regular season, so by now, there’s more than enough

Today's Live Odds Lines Spreads

NFL

We’re now halfway through the NFL regular season, so by now, there’s more than enough statistical data available to outline some significant trends. If you haven’t been following along, this season has been dominated by underdogs as they’re working on a 74-59-1 record against the spread (ATS) after going 9-4 ATS last week.

Still, oddsmakers continue to send out fat point spreads week in and week out. This time around there are five spreads of 10 points or more as of Wednesday afternoon. That’s a lot of chalk.

Week 10 begins with the Baltimore Ravens visiting the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football. Baltimore, which leads the NFC North at 6-2 (3-5 ATS), opened at -7 but is currently listed at -7.5 with better than 80 percent of the early betting support.

The big spreads litter Sunday’s schedule with the Dallas Cowboys (home to Atlanta), Arizona Cardinals (hosting Carolina), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers all listed as 10-point favourites. Of those, the Bucs are easily seeing the most point spread bets as they visit a Washington Football Team that is 1-7 ATS. The Indianapolis Colts are holding as a 10.5-point favourite at home to Jacksonville, while the Buffalo Bills are the biggest favourite on the board again at -13 as they visit the New York Jets. Buffalo is coming off its worst offensive performance in two years in last week’s 9-6 loss to Jacksonville.

On Sunday Night Football oddsmakers have the Kansas City Chiefs set as favourites again at -2.5 as they visit the Las Vegas Raiders. The Chiefs are just 2-7 ATS this season. To close out the week, bettors are all over the Los Angeles Rams as 4-point favourites at the San Francisco 49ers. Close to 90 percent of early wagers are currently backing the Rams.

NHL

A quick look at the NHL money standings unsurprisingly has the 10-1 Carolina Hurricanes at the top of the board as they’ve already earned 6.24 units for their bettors. But on their heels are a couple of teams you might not expect – the Columbus Blue Jackets and the San Jose Sharks. Columbus is battling to keep games close and isn’t going away in the Metro at 7-3, good for +5.43 units. San Jose is getting it done with defence and goaltending leading the way to their 7-5 record. That has Sharks supporters up 4.40 units to date.

NBA

With an 82-game season you’d don’t often see major moves on the NBA MVP odds board. Tell that to Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry. After he put up 50 points and 10 assists against the Atlanta Hawks this week his MVP odds went from +800 all the way to +287. Curry is averaging 27.6 points and 6.6 assists per game. You might want to give the Cleveland Cavaliers a long look, too. They aren’t flashy by any stretch of the imagination – Collin Sexton leads the team averaging 16 points per game – and they haven’t been favoured in a game yet this season, but are 7-4 straight up, 8-3 against the spread.
